The Bismarck-Mandan Regional Future Land Use Plan is a metropolitan-wide project to prepare for future community growth. This site is here to help us learn from each other as this Plan is developed. We will be updating and adding information regularly, so please bookmark this site and drop in frequently to see what is new!
The purpose of the Bismarck-Mandan Regional Future Land Use Plan is to establish future land uses for the fringe area around the Cities of Mandan, Bismarck, and Lincoln. By establishing these future land uses now, each local jurisdiction can make better decisions about long term infrastructure and land use decisions. Additionally, it allows local landowners and business people to make better informed decisions about land and business development.
The Regional Future Land Use Plan project is being funded through the Bismarck-Mandan Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO). The MPO is composed of member jurisdictions: Mandan, Morton County, Bismarck, and Burleigh County. The MPO’s purpose is to provide coordinated, comprehensive, and continuous planning for transportation in the metropolitan area.
